Everyday people took on a medical cause and succeeded in helping to find a cure. Not a penny of government or corporate funding was behind Dr. Jonas Salk's polio research of the 1950s - only small private donations from everyday people like you and me through the charity the March of Dimes.
AMICUS for AIDS aims to do it all again with Dr. Salk's theory for an HIV immunotherapeutic.
Phase 2 studies are now being conducted under the scientific leadership of Professor Henri Atlan, Dr. Salk's co-author in the theory, through a collaborative effort of the Human Futures Foundation (co-founded by Dr. Salk, www.humanfutures.org) and Hadassah University Hospital. Trials now need to extend and this requires philanthropic support. Big pharmas aren't interested - there's no product to sell.
Polio showed us decades ago - scientists can move mountains with the public behind them.
Be part of humanity's next big success - make a small donation today.
