The Straits of Gibraltar Charity Swim

A place of strength and tenacity.  A place of connection.

On the week of September 22, 2008, Gibraltar was also a place of hope.

This southern most tip of Europe, was launch pad for the 10 mile charity swim to Morocco, tip of Africa - a swim that bridged the two continents.

Donations in support of the swim have helped to sponsor the next stage of clinical trial testing our innovative approach in the treatment of HIV/AIDS.

The Rock of Gibraltar
Months of grueling training and the prospect of swimming with the odd killer whale or shark...

Why on Earth would James Salter, age 42, UK businessman, husband and father, and two of his friends, Chris Smith, age 20 and Richard Ing, age 18 be doing this?  Because they wanted to make a difference.

Carol Anne Bundy, HFF CEO says "AMICUS is about the power of friends getting behind a good cause and our Europe to Africa swim is a perfect example of how we can all be a part of change for global good."

Bundy says, "Everyone can be a part of AMICUS which in Latin means friend."
