AMICUS: An Epidemic of Goodwill

Even if a preventative vaccine were to appear tomorrow, the millions already infected need help now.

One big pharma has already halted their future anti-retroviral research - weak profit projections given generics in combination with political pressure to reduce pricing, the reasons given.

But the real challenge is this - unless the HIV-infected individual achieves 95% compliance in taking their meds, drug resistance is almost ensured requiring the next formulation - if one is available.

For these reasons, immunotherapeutic approaches like ours are gaining favor.

But big pharmas, again, are not interested.  There is no pill or traditional vaccine to sell.

Success in the technique with HIV and other auto-immune diseases could benefit as well such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, some cancers and diabetes.

Enough small donations and it can happen.   "We only fail if we stop too soon." J. Salk
